Building your own drum for ceremonial use is the best way to bring one into your life. It has your energy from the beginning. In the workshop I also teach about drum “etiquette,” your relationship with your drum, sacred songs, and how your drum can teach you. Choose either a round or octagonal frame, nominal dimension approximately 15 inch by 2 ½. Head and lacing is elk, which I strongly encourage for this size drum. The frames are poplar, a genus of cottonwood, or if requested, western cedar (a wee tad more money though.)
